Huge List of Highly Anticipated New Books for January 2019!
So, I started writing this list with the intention of sharing a massive list of all of the new releases I was excited about for 2019. And when I had nearly 40 books on the list and I was only to March, I thought it would be best to split these up :) Here are the ones that caught my eye the most- I’ve got psychological thrillers to debut novels, own voices, and historical fiction.

Four strangers get stuck at a rest stop during a Colorado blizzard. Darby goes to her car to try and get a signal, and she finds the van parked next to her has a little girl trapped in a cage inside. One of the four strangers is a kidnapper- but which one? I can’t wait to read this one- I think I’ll wait for the first big snowfall (when I’m safely indoors).
The Dreamers | Karen Thompson Walker | Release Date: January 15th, 2019 | Dystopian Fiction
Residents of a college town get afflicted by a mysterious illness that causes people to have life-altering dreams- and never wake up. I am always down for reading about a humanity ending epidemic!

It’s the early 90’s in New York City. Lucy is obsessed with basketball and has a crush on her best friend, Percy. This is a coming of age story about growing up female in a world with set expectations. It’s been getting a lot of praise, and Lucy has been getting comparisons to a female Holden Caulfield.
We Cast a Shadow | Maurice Carlos Ruffin | Release Date: January 29th, 2019 | Literary Fiction
In this family story meets satire about surviving racism in the near future, a father has to make a choice. Let his son embrace his blackness, which in this world means he might not survive, or give up nearly everything for an experimental procedure that will make his boy white. This is my most anticipated read from this list.
I have been finishing out the year by trying to get through some favorites of 2018 that I missed, so I’ll be excited to turn my attention to new titles in the new year. What are you excited to read in 2019?
