The Favorite Sister | TBR Etc.

This book sounded like it was tailor made for me- five strong and successful women in New York have joined the cast of a reality show called Goal Diggers and one of them ends up dead. Instead of housewives, these women are entrepreneurs, but the drama and behind the scene backstabbing stays. I got an ARC of this one- I think I'll be starting on it next!

TBR 2 | The Outsider | Stephen King | Release Date: May 22nd

Yay, a new Stephen King! At this point, I'm basically collecting every book in his canon, but I'm especially excited for this one because it sounds like it's going to be more of a police procedural. A young boy’s corpse is found violated in a town park, and all signs are pointing to a very popular town citizen as having been responsible. The evidence points to this being an open and shut case, but as details emerge it becomes clear that theres much more to the story. Loving the creepy cover too- it's giving me Stranger Things/ Get Out upside down vibes.

TBR 3 | The Perfect Mother | Aimee Molloy | Release Date: May 1st

The Perfect Mother | TBR Etc.

Alright...I get really squirrely when a book is advertised as "THE MOST ANTICIPATED BOOK OF THE SUMMER—SOON TO BE A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE"... but then I saw the end of this sentence was "STARRING SCANDAL’S KERRY WASHINGTON", so, I'm in. A group of young mothers blow off steam together and become inexplicably connected after one of the mother's young baby goes missing. I'm thinking this will be more of a slow burn than a crazy page turner, but those are some of my favorites when they're well done. (It's also a Book of the Month pick for May! Sign up here!)

TBD 1 | The Death of Mrs. Westaway | Ruth Ware  | Release Date: May 29th

The Death of Mrs. Westaway | TBR Etc.

To be honest, I didn't even read the synopsis before adding this to my must read for May list. Ruth Ware is an insta-read author for me, but looking back I think I liked her first book, In a Dark, Dark Wood, the best. I wasn't a fan of The Woman in Cabin 10 (too far fetched), and liked The Lying Game, but just enough. I'm really interested to see how I feel about this new one. I do love how her books are all different from one another while still retaining that Ruth Ware-is suspense building I love. Here, Hal, a tarot- card reader, uses her card reading skills to capitalize on a letter bequeathing a substantial inheritance to someone else. One of my favorite book blogs, Crime By the Book, really enjoyed this one, so I do have high hopes.
