It's Day 2 of #12DaysofReadThis! February was a rough reading month for me. No books were terrible, but I didn't have anything I rated above a 3.5.

The Wicked City | Beatriz Williams | Williams is one of my favorite historical fiction authors. She writes main characters that are funny, strong, and anti-establishment. This was not my favorite of her s though. The two stories didn't meld well together and the present day story didn't captivate me at all. Read this if: you've read all of her others and want to continue fangirling. If you have never read her, I recommend you start with The Secret Life of Violet Gant. Vivian is one of my favorite female protagonists, ever. Rating. 3
The Wife, The Maid, The Mistress | Ariel Lawhon | A judge in the 1930s who was mixed up with the mob steps into a cab and is never seen again. Based upon a true story, we find out about the events that took place during the days leading up to the disappearance from the viewpoint of his wife, his maid, and his mistress. Read this if: you're in the mood for a breezy mystery with a tidy ending. Avoid if you're looking for straight true crime- this is more chick lit than thriller. Rating: 3.5
Caraval | Stephanie Gerber | Caraval is one of the only YA books I read this year, know that my thoughts on this are from the viewpoint of someone who doesn't tend to read this genre. Scarlett is the responsible sister to Tella, the wild one. They live on an island under the thumb of their exceedingly cruel father. Scarlett is about to be a part of an arranged marriage when the girls finally get an invite to something they've been trying to get to their whole lives: Caraval. Caraval is a five day contest that is supposed to be based in fantasy. But when Tella gets taken as a part of the game, Scarlett realizes that the stakes are high and is driven to solve the puzzle alone to try and save her sister. It was an interesting idea, but I didn't find it to be that well written. I also hated Scarlett's damsel in distress act. Read this if: you are a big YA fan who likes trilogies or reading about family relationships with a bit of fantasy and romance. Avoid if you don't like YA or are particularly sensitive to abuse- there was a surprising lot of it. Rating: 2.75
Behind Her Eyes | Sarah Pinborough | Set in London, Louise is a single mother who's doing her best to provide for her son and maintain her own sanity. On a rare night out, she meets a man she really connects with, only to find out that he's her new boss. Her new, married, boss. She runs into his mild mannered wife Adele and begins to uncover the secrets in their marriage. Stakes are high and she becomes obsessed with the both of them, risking everything she loves to try and save her new friend. At about the 75% mark, the wheels fall off and things get crazy. This was the most "out there" ending I've read in awhile, thoroughly earning the #WTFthatending tag from the publisher. Read this if you like books set in London, reading about devolving relationships, or want an unique thriller that will keep you turning the page. Avoid if you are expecting a relatable ending. Rating, 3.75.
