Books Im Bringing on my Honeymoon | TBR Etc.

Under a month folks! We're about a month out from our wedding, so of course instead of doing something productive, like finalizing the day of schedule, I'm thinking about the books I'm bringing on my honeymoon :)

I haven't been on a true beach vacation for about seven years or so, and J and I have never been on a vacation together where the only plans were to relax and enjoy (!!), so I'm really looking forward to the time away. In addition to the warm weather, good food, and swim up bar, I can't wait to have theoretically unlimited reading time. Can you tell I'm excited?

Below, 7 books that are making their way into my suitcase (or Kindle). I'm certainly not bringing an extra bag to fit all of my physical books. That would be crazy. Unrelated- can you travel with library books?

Crazy Rich Asians, China Rich Girlfriend, Rich People Problems | Kevin Kwan

I listened to book one in the series and absolutely loved it. Rachel Chu is an Chinese-American professor, daughter of a single mother,  and girlfriend to Nick. When Nick invites her to spend the summer with him at his family home in Singapore, her biggest concern is meeting his parents and what this next step in their relationship will mean for them. She has no idea that his family is literally one of the richest and most connected families on a very rich and connected island and that he is Singapore's most eligible bachelor. Suddenly, Rachel finds herself under intense scrutiny from the family, family friends, and the media, and has to come to terms with this new version of her boyfriend. There are so many layers to this book- tons of juicy family drama and eccentric characters amidst beautiful descriptions of food and setting. I loved the narration on the audiobook, but I'm glad to have a physical copy of these now so that I can flip around and keep all of the characters straight! There were several plot points that were left open ended in book one, and I can't wait to dive back in and catch up with the characters.

Something in the Water | Catherine Steadman

This book is getting a lot of buzz right now because it's a Reece's Book Club x Hello Sunshine pick. It's also a pick for a honeymoon read that is very, very on the nose.  Mark and Erin are newlyweds who are on their honeymoon in Bora Bora. While scuba diving, they make a shocking discovery. If you could make a simple choice that would chance your life forever, would you? For books like these, I like to know as little as possible about the plot, but what I do know has got me intrigued.

The Other Woman | Sadie Jones

The Other Woman | TBR Etc

For me, beach reads don't always need to be breezy. I love a good thriller that sucks you in and the thought of being able to read one uninterrupted really calls to me. The titular other woman in this case is not another lover- it's his mother. Emily meets Adam and can't believe she's found someone who is so perfect for her. Adam's biggest problem that his mother, Pammie, sees any woman that enters his life as a rival and will stop at nothing to get Emily out of the picture. Based on premise alone, this one sounds like it could go cheesy rather easily, but it's getting good early reviews so I have to see how this shakes out.

The Perfect Couple | Elin Hilderbrand

The Perfect Couple | TBR Etc.

Set in Nantucket, this family drama combines chick lit and mystery. It's wedding season, and the Otis-Winbury event is going to be one to remember. However- not for the expected reasons- a body is found in the Harbor just before the wedding ceremony and everybody in the wedding party is a suspect. I have never read anything by Elin Hilderbrand, but those that have will have the added bonus of recognizing some characters from her previous novels.

We Are Gathered | Jamie Weisman

We Are Gathered | TBR Etc.

I think this would be an especially fun book to read right after going to a wedding. The ceremony takes place on an Atlanta afternoon and guests gather to honor Hank and Elizabeth. However, this story isn't about the happy couple- it's about the guests. A wheelchair bound grandfather reflects back on his younger days, a mother reflects on her indiscretion in her marriage. I love thinking about how all of these different peoples' lives interest at this party and I have a feeling this will have me thinking about my own guests.

When Life Give You Lululemons | Lauren Weisberger

I talked about this in the June New Releases I'm Excited About post- but I'm going to finally bring this one with me. If all other books fail, I know my old friends Miranda Priestly and and Emily Charlton won't let me down!

7 books for 7 days is excessive- I get it. But I'm a mood reader and I like having options! Plus, this resort is beautiful and I can't wait for all the photo ops, both book related and non. Do you have any beach reads for this summer that you'd add to my list?
