I Finished Reading
The Hunting Party | Lucy Foley | I’ve got a full review for this coming out later this week, but to summarize I thought this was a solid 3.5 star book. The set up was great- a group of friends from college go to a remote resort in Scotland to celebrate New Year’s Eve and one of them winds up dead. There were strong elements but a few too many characters and red herrings for me to rate it any higher.
I’m Currently Reading
The Huntress | Kate Quinn | I’m reading this for a review so I picked it up on audio as well as hard copy. It’s too early for me to have any real opinions yet, but the reviews on Goodreads make me think this is promising.
The Last | Hanna Jameson | Our power went out this week so I had to pick up an e-book to keep me entertained. This was the perfect book for the occasion- an American professor gets stranded at a Swiss hotel as the world heads towards an apocalypse. It’s creepy, atmospheric, and making me want to drop everything to move this to the top of the list!
Upcoming Reading Plans
Washington Black | Esi Edugyan | After The Huntress- I’m going to start this on audio! I listened to a sample to make sure I liked the narration- and oh, did I. This is the story how an 11 year old boy goes from field slave on a Barbados sugar plantation to the Arctic, London, and Morocco. It won a ton of awards and had my attention for the little bit that I listened to.

Recursion | Blake Crouch | Release Date: June 11th, 2019 | Crouch’s previous book Dark Matter is quite possibly my all time favorite book, so I’m trying my best to keep my expectations for this one in check. (It’s not working). There is a disease affecting people’s memories- it gives them false memories about events that never happened to them and makes them forget the things that really did. A neuroscientist and a NYC cop team together to try and discover the origins of the disease and discover things are much more complicated than they ever predicted.
Renegade Women | Elizabeth Weitzman | Release Date: February 5, 2019 | This book is beautiful! It would be a perfect coffee table book to showcase strong women in film and TV.
Those People | Louise Candlish | Release Date: July 11th, 2019 | I requested this one from Netgalley after really enjoying her previous book, Our House. Here, an unruly couple moves into an idyllic neighborhood and some neighbors will stop at nothing to regain the status their street once had.
We: A Manifesto for Women Everywhere | Release Date: March 7th, 2017 | Sounds super interesting- It’s part self-help, part social theory and takes a look at what transitioning from a me-first culture and to a we-based world might look like.
